Ravi Uppal and Saurabh Chandrakar are said to be the owners of Mahadev App. It is learned that agencies are preparing to bring Ravi Uppal to India. Whereas former Chief Minister Dr. Raman Singh has said that the protection of bookies was there only till the time the Congress government was there, with the end of Congress misgovernance, now Chhattisgarh has moved towards the end of criminals. It is being told that the arrested accused Ravi Uppal is one of the two owners of the Mahadev app. He is an associate of the main accused Saurav Chandrakar. Interpol had issued a Red Corner Notice against Ravi Uppal and Saurabh Chandrakar.
Apart from Chhattisgarh, Mumbai Police is also investigating
According to ED, Ravi Uppal was detained in Dubai last week and ED officials are in touch with Dubai authorities to send him to India. Chhattisgarh and Mumbai Police in India are investigating against Ravi Uppal. While ED is investigating the money laundering case related to Mahadev betting app.
A case of money laundering has been registered
In October, ED had registered a case under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA) in Raipur, Chhattisgarh in a money laundering case related to betting. A charge sheet was filed in a money laundering case against Uppal and another Mahadev App promoter, Saurabh Chandrakar, before a special court.
Uppal has not given up Indian citizenship
Later a red notice was issued by Interpol on the request of ED. The investigating agencies have told the court in the charge sheet that Uppal has taken a passport of Vanuatu, an island in the Pacific Ocean, but has not given up his Indian citizenship. It has been alleged in the charge sheet that Ravi Uppal and his associates have together embezzled about Rs 6000 crore. In Chhattisgarh, bribe money was delivered to bureaucrats and politicians through the connivance of the police and some others.
