Raipur. The Central GST team has seized sarees and bicycles worth more than Rs 1 crore, which were stored to woo voters in the elections. GST action is still going on. Central GST has constituted a team of three flying squads to stop illegal storage of election distribution items. On the information of the informer, the same team raided the warehouse of Bhanpuri and Ravanabhatha and seized saree and bicycle. GST officials have not yet been able to get any information regarding who is the owner of the goods. In view of the assembly elections, a flying squad team has been formed on the instructions of Central GST Commissioner Abu Sama.

The team is led by Rajesh Ranjan. Flying Squad team got information about huge quantity of sarees and bicycles stored in two warehouses in Bhanpuri and one transport warehouse in Khamtarai, Rawanbhatha. Based on the information, the team reached the spot to investigate. According to CGST officials, when their team reached the transport warehouse to conduct the raid, the transporters were asked to present the e-way bill on the spot, but they were not able to present valid documents. Also, when he was asked about the people who ordered the goods, he could not give information about this also. The transporters told the CGST officers that they have been transporting sarees and bicycles for the last four months.

Transported from Surat, Delhi, Ludhiana

According to CGST officials, the sarees and bicycles stored in the warehouses where the raids were conducted have been transported from Surat, Ludhiana and Delhi. According to CGST officials, goods worth Rs 25 lakh have been seized in the past also without Eway Bill. According to officers, solar flash lights without Eway Bill have also been seized from the transport warehouse.

Instructions for special monitoring on goods transportation

According to CGST Commissioner Abu Sama, instructions have been given to monitor all types of goods vehicles, big and small, keeping in mind that goods should not be supplied in any way to lure voters in the elections. Along with this, it has been asked to inspect the warehouses of transporters from time to time. Instructions have been given to confiscate goods found without Eway Bill.
