TMC Protest: Trinamool Congress will protest in New Delhi from Monday i.e. today over the delay in releasing funds to West Bengal under Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme and Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana. Trinamool Congress (TMC) has not received permission from Delhi Police to protest at Jantar Mantar. The party will hold a peaceful protest and rally with its MPs and state ministers at Rajghat today on the occasion of Gandhi Jayanti.
Protest today regarding MNREGA
TMC has called for a two-day Delhi Chalo fight for our rights. Protest in the national capital demanding payment of dues of 100 days of work under the MNREGA scheme. While TMC national general secretary Abhishek Banerjee reached New Delhi on Sunday, 49 buses of his party’s supporters will reach Delhi on Monday. Attacking the Center, Abhishek Banerjee said that if you can stop it then stop it. I am not challenging any investigating agency. Whatever I had to say, I have said it. I am putting forward that challenge again from the soil of Delhi. The TMC MP has alleged that the central government made a lot of efforts to cancel trains and flights. So that the protests can be stopped.
Payment not made to beneficiaries
Abhishek Banerjee said that despite the state government sending the list of beneficiaries in December 2022, the Center has not yet made the payment. He raised questions over withholding of beneficiaries’ funds from government schemes and demanded action against corruption. On Sunday, top party leaders including Sudip Bandyopadhyay, Chandrima Bhattacharya, Dola Sen and Babul Supriyo met to discuss the strategy of Monday’s protest.
