Karnataka Leader Of Opposition: Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Friday elected R Ashok as the Leader of Opposition in the Karnataka Assembly. He is a seven-time MLA from Padmanabha Nagar assembly constituency. This decision has come after the BJP Legislature Party meeting today. Senior BJP MLA R Ashok has also been the former Deputy Chief Minister of Karnataka.

After getting this big responsibility, he said while talking to the media that the party, PM Modi, Amit Shah, JP Nadda, General Secretary Santosh and all our MLAs have today elected me as the leader of the opposition of the Karnataka Assembly, for this I thank the party. Am. R Ashok said that the BJP high command has given us the task of winning all the 28 parliamentary constituencies in the Lok Sabha elections.

Former CM Bommai expressed happiness

On R Ashok being appointed leader of opposition in the Karnataka Assembly, BJP leader and former CM Basavaraj Bommai said in a media interaction that it was a unanimous selection. He is a senior leader. I congratulate him. I am very happy. Let us tell you that the names of Sunil Kumar, Ashwath Narayan and Araga Gyanendra were in discussion as contenders for this post. But R Ashok’s name was approved in the meeting. Let us tell you that several months after the elections in the state, BJP had to face criticism from the ruling Congress for the delay in appointing the leader of the opposition.

R Ashok targeted Congress

Meanwhile, R Ashok has also targeted Congress. He said that Congress has not done anything for the poor and farmers in the recent past. There is internal strife going on in the Congress party for the last 6 months, Siddaramaiah and DK Shivakumar are fighting for the post of CM. Let us tell you that BJP is the main opposition party in Karnataka. In the state assembly elections held in May, the Congress won 135 seats, while the BJP won 66 seats.
