After the mayoral elections in Delhi, the standing committee elections were conducted peacefully. Controversy was going on for the last two days regarding this election. The Aam Aadmi Party has hoisted its flag in the MCD elections. After this AAP has also made its mayor in Delhi. Aam Aadmi Party’s Shaili Oberoi has defeated BJP’s Rekha Gupta in the mayoral election. After making its mayor in Delhi, now AAP’s focus is on the standing committee elections. For the last two days, efforts were being made to hold the election of the standing committee. A lot of uproar was also seen regarding this. BJP and AAP councilors fought overnight over the election of the standing committee. The councilors were seen kicking and punching each other. Due to this, the proceedings of the House were adjourned till 10 o’clock today, February 24.

Voting was held from this morning for the election of the Standing Committee of the Municipal Corporation of Delhi. Delhi Mayor Shaili Oberoi today did not allow any corporator to enter the house with mobile. A lot of resentment was seen among the BJP councilors regarding this. In this way even today the election of the Standing Committee started with ruckus. At the same time, BJP councilors were demanding fresh elections for the members of the Standing Committee from yesterday itself. In the beginning, the Mayor of Delhi flatly refused to get it done afresh. But today the mayor, while approving the demand of the councilors, got the standing committee elected afresh.

BJP councilors gave petition in the High Court

BJP corporators have claimed that they have filed a petition in the Delhi High Court this morning. After this, elections to the Standing Committee were held afresh. During this election, councilors have been banned from bringing their mobiles as well as pens. AAP leader Saurabh Bhardwaj has claimed that after registering victory in Delhi MCD, AAP will also win in Standing Committee.
