This person was cleaning the sinus ringing process i.e. nose with the water of the tank, during this time the amoeba reached the person’s brain through the water through the nose. Due to infection that person’s brain got swollen, later this infection took the person’s life. Explain that due to amoeba, an infection named amoebic meningoencephalitis occurs in the human brain.
These symptoms are seen in people suffering from infection
Symptoms of amoebic meningoencephalitis infection usually appear within a week. These may include headache, fever, nausea, vomiting, stiff neck, seizures, and hallucinations. The infection progresses very quickly and often proves fatal, causing death within a few days or weeks. According to the Health Department of Florida, people do not become victims of this deadly disease by drinking dirty water, rather it is found in clean water. Because of this, people fall prey to it in places like swimming pools or water parks.
Many more cases of PAM in the US
According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, a total of 149 cases of PAM infection have been reported in the United States from 1962 to 2020. Most of these cases have been reported in Texas, Florida and southern states. The maximum number of cases are being reported in Arizona. The most recent case of PAM reported in the United States occurred in 2020 in Florida, where a man died after becoming infected with the brain-eating amoeba. It is said that the person came in contact with this amoeba while swimming in the swimming pool.
