CBI team reached Rabri’s residence

Officials of the Central Bureau of Investigation reached the residence of former Bihar Chief Minister Rabri Devi on Monday. According to media reports, officials raided Rabri Devi’s house in connection with the Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation scam case. The case pertains to alleged corruption in taking land in lieu of job in the Indian Railways. Delhi’s Rouse Avenue Court on February 27 summoned former Railway Minister Lalu Prasad Yadav, his wife Rabri Devi and 14 others in connection with the alleged land-for-jobs scam.

Special Judge Gitanjali Goel directed the accused persons to appear before the court on March 15. But before that the CBI team reached Rabri Devi’s residence. In July 2022, the CBI arrested Bhola Yadav, who used to be Lalu Prasad’s Officer on Special Duty when he was Railway Minister. The chargesheet was filed on October 10, 2022, against 16 accused persons for offenses of criminal conspiracy and corruption.

what is the matter

The case pertains to jobs in the Railways in lieu of land gifted or sold to the family of former Railway Minister Lalu Prasad Yadav between 2004 and 2009 when he was Railway Minister.

Earlier in 2021, the Central Bureau of Investigation had closed the case against Lalu Yadav and his family members after it did not find any concrete evidence that could prove the allegations. But in December last year, the CBI reopened the corruption cases against the former chief minister.

On this matter, senior JDU leader KC Tyagi alleged that the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party is using central agencies for political vendetta. He alleged that the CBI was conducting the raids on the instructions of top BJP leaders and similar attempts were made against former Delhi Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia.
