Top 5 upcoming SUVs in India: The SUV segment in India is growing every year. There is a good demand for SUV vehicles among the customers. At present, around 43% of the passenger vehicles in the market belong to this segment. There will be several SUVs launching in the Indian auto market in the coming months. The country’s largest carmaker, Maruti Suzuki India, will introduce the Franks and the five-door Jimny. Whereas, Kia India is expected to bring Seltos facelift, Honda Cars India with its all-new model and Hyundai Motor India micro-SUV.
Maruti Suzuki Fronx
Maruti Suzuki will launch the Franks in India in the second week of April. The new model could be a major contender in the compact SUV segment, in which Maruti already has the popular Brezza. Maruti has so far received over 15500 bookings for the Franks. It is being offered in Sigma, Delta, Delta Plus, Zeta and Alpha variants. Expect the Frons to be priced between Rs 6.75 lakh to Rs 11 lakh ex-showroom. The Fronx is powered by the K12N 1.2-litre Dual-Jet Dual-VVT petrol engine with 90PS/113Nm and the K10C 1.0-litre Turbo Boosterjet petrol engine with 100PS/148Nm. Transmission options include 5-speed MT and 5-speed AMT with the K12N engine and 5-speed MT and 6-speed AT with the K10C engine.
Maruti Suzuki Jimny
Maruti Suzuki will launch the Jimny after the Frons. Both the SUVs will be sold from Nexa dealerships. More than 23500 bookings have been done for this. The Jimny will have only two Zeta and Alpha variants. The SUV will be priced between Rs 9 lakh to Rs 13 lakh ex-showroom. The Jimny is powered by a 1.5-litre K15B petrol engine, which produces 103PS of max power and 134Nm of peak torque. Transmission options include 5-speed MT and 4-speed AT. The SUV gets Suzuki’s ALLGRIP PRO 4WD technology with low-range transfer gear 4L mode as standard.
Kia Seltos Facelift
According to reports, Kia India will introduce the Seltos facelift towards the end of the year. It will come with several cosmetic updates. However, the powertrain options are expected to remain the same. It will get a 1.5-litre petrol engine, a 1.5-litre turbo petrol engine and a 1.5-litre diesel engine with manual, clutchless manual and automatic transmission options. The Seltos facelift will be priced slightly higher than the current price of Rs 10.89 lakh to Rs 19.65 lakh ex-showroom.
New Honda SUVs
Honda Cars India will launch its all-new SUV before the start of the festive season this year. The Honda SUV has already been spied testing several times. It is expected to come with 1.5-litre petrol and strong hybrid engine options, which are available with the Honda City. The Honda SUV is likely to be priced between Rs 10.50 lakh to Rs 20 lakh ex-showroom.
Hyundai Micro SUV
Hyundai will launch another SUV this year around the festive season. The new Hyundai micro SUV will rival the Tata Punch. The upcoming SUV will be based on the Hyundai Grand i10 Nios and Hyundai Aura platforms and may share powertrains with them. The Hyundai micro SUV is expected to be priced between Rs 6 lakh to Rs 9.5 lakh ex-showroom.
