Manish Sisodia Bail Hearing: Delhi’s Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia has approached the Supreme Court on Tuesday for bail in the Excise Policy case. Manish Sisodia was arrested by the CBI last Sunday. After this, on Monday, the CBI produced him in a special court and took permission for five days custody. A bench of Chief Justice DY Chandrachud and Justice PS Narasimha is conducting the hearing.

Senior advocate AM Singhvi, appearing for Manish Sisodia in the Supreme Court, told Chief Justice D.Y. Chandrachud and Justice P.S. Narasimha’s bench was appealed for urgent hearing today itself. Manish Sisodia has challenged the arrest made by the CBI in the court.

In this case, the CJI said that you are seeking bail and other relief from the Supreme Court. Along with this, he said that you have cited Arnab Goswami and Vinod Dua case but that was a completely different case from this case. The CJI said that you should first take bail from the lower court regarding this matter. One should go to the High Court to get the FIR quashed. At the same time, senior advocate AM Singhvi, appearing for Sisodia in the Supreme Court, asked the Chief Justice to give me only 3 minutes to speak.

Senior advocate AM Singhvi told the court that Manish Sisodia has been called for questioning only twice by the CBI. He said that neither he is accused of tampering with the evidence nor there is any apprehension of absconding. On the argument of Sisodia’s advocate, the CJI said that your words may be correct, but the Supreme Court cannot hear it directly. For this you should go to the lower court.
