Voting is going on today in 38 districts for the second phase of civic elections in Uttar Pradesh. Earlier in Kanpur’s Ghatampur, miscreants shot and injured the husband of the independent candidate for the post of Municipal President. After this, the attackers fled from the spot. He was admitted to a nearby hospital after the incident. When his condition became serious, he was referred to Kanpur.

Police force deployed in the area after the incident

According to media reports, independent candidate Snehlata Yadav is contesting for the post of municipal president in Ghatampur in Kanpur Nagar district of Uttar Pradesh. Her husband Gajraj Singh Yadav was going alone by bike from home to the election office on Kanpur Road at around 12 o’clock in the night. He had just reached 200 meters away from the house when the masked miscreants who came from the scooty shot him, injuring him seriously. After this, the attackers fled taking advantage of the darkness. The incident is being told late Wednesday night. Gajraj Singh was shot in the left hand. Soon after, he was admitted to the nearest primary health centre. But seeing the seriousness of the condition, the victim Gajraj was referred to Halat Hospital in Kanpur. After this incident, once again questions are being raised on the Uttar Pradesh Police. However, after this incident, police force has been deployed in the area.

Elderly woman dies of heart attack while casting her vote

State Election Commissioner Manoj Kumar told that Meerut, Baghpat, Gautam Buddha Nagar, Ghaziabad, Hapur, Bulandshahr, Bareilly, Badayun, Shahjahanpur, Pilibhit, Aligarh, Hathras, Kasganj, Etah, Kanpur Nagar, Kanpur Dehat, Amethi Voting is going on in 38 districts including Ayodhya, Azamgarh, Ballia and Sonbhadra. More than 1.92 crore voters will cast their vote in 38 districts of the state today. The State Election Commissioner informed that in the second phase, 83 candidates are in the fray for the post of mayors of 7 municipal corporations of the state. Up to 20% voting has taken place in entire UP till 11 am. Meanwhile, a 75-year-old woman died of a heart attack while casting her vote in Azamgarh. In Bulandshahr, more than 100 bogus voters have been caught casting their votes, who have been arrested.
