Illegal Mining: of female wrestlers Gonda MP and Bharatiya Janata Party leader Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh, facing allegations of sexual harassment, has added to his woes. The National Green Tribunal (NGT) has ordered an inquiry into allegations of damage to the Saryu river due to illegal sand mining and transportation of minerals by his company in Gonda. A joint committee has been formed to investigate this.

The National Green Tribunal has constituted a joint committee of the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change, Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB), National Mission for Clean Ganga (NMCG), Uttar Pradesh Pollution Control Board on Wednesday. The committee has been directed to file its inquiry report by November 7. Also, this inquiry committee will visit the place where illegal mining took place within a week.

NGT had received a complaint

The NGT had received a complaint in this matter, stating that illegal sand mining in Gonda district of Uttar Pradesh was causing immense damage to the environment. It was on the basis of this complaint that the NGT banned illegal sand mining and trucks. According to media reports, illegal sand mining was being done in three villages and sand was being sold illegally. At the same time, the roads were also getting damaged due to heavy trucks plying on the road.

According to media reports, Bharatiya Janata Party MP Brij Bhushan Singh has previously faced more than 38 criminal cases, including attempt to murder, rioting, links with land mafia and other serious charges. However, according to the affidavit filed by him before the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, he was acquitted in all the cases.

Hearing will also be held in sexual abuse case

Delhi’s Rouse Avenue Court will hear the sexual harassment case from women wrestlers. Women wrestlers allege that Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh has sexually exploited many women wrestlers. The police had said in the charge sheet that there was enough evidence to prosecute Brij Bhushan. The court will hear on this today. Let us tell you that the last hearing was held on 28 July. Brij Bhushan’s lawyer had asked for additional time to read the charge sheet, so the court accepted the request and fixed the next date as August 3.
