Gyanvapi Masjid Survey: Muslim side files petition in Allahabad HC, demands ban on survey

Gyanvapi Masjid Survey: The Muslim side has filed a petition in the Allahabad High Court challenging the Varanasi court’s order allowing the Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) to survey the Gyanvapi mosque complex. The Anjuman Intezamia Masjid Committee has filed this petition. This committee looks after 22 mosques including Gyanvapi Masjid in Varanasi. This has come to light a day after the Supreme Court stayed the ASI survey till July 26 and the Muslim side approached the High Court.

Hindu side also filed caveat

Rakhi Singh, the petitioner from the Hindu side in the Gyanvapi Masjid dispute, has filed a caveat petition in the Allahabad High Court on Monday. He has urged the court in his petition that if the petition of the Anjuman Intezamia Masjid Committee is heard in the Allahabad High Court, then its decision should not be given without hearing the Hindu side. Advocate Saurabh Tiwari filed the Caveat Petition through e-filing mode. Many big lawyers are preparing to argue on behalf of the Hindu side.

Supreme Court banned

The Supreme Court has stayed the scientific survey of the Gyanvapi campus till 5 pm on Wednesday and has asked the Muslim side to approach the Allahabad High Court against the Varanasi court’s order. According to media reports, the survey work has been stopped immediately after the order of the Supreme Court. A 30-member team of the Archaeological Survey of India started the survey on Monday morning in the Gyanvapi campus to conduct a scientific survey as per the order of the Varanasi court. So that, so that it can be ascertained whether the mosque present at par with the Kashi Vishwanath temple was built over a temple or not.
