Municipal corporation will create task force at zone level to ban single use plastic

Bhopal. Despite all the efforts of the municipal officials, single use plastic is not being banned. On July 1, 2022, the central government had banned single-use plastic across the country. But it is still being used indiscriminately in Bhopal. To prevent this, a meeting was held on Wednesday by the Central Pollution Control Board with the municipal officials to conduct a special inspection campaign. In the meeting, it was agreed to set up a task force at the zone level and to appoint 4 nodal officers in Bhopal to strictly carry out the spot fine and confiscation action for a complete ban on single-use plastic items. Four in-charge health officers Brijendra Gupta, Ravikant Audichya, Rakesh Sharma and Rajeev Saxena have been made nodal officers.

These substances will be banned:
About 19 products including polythene, straw, thermocol with less than 100 microns have been completely banned. It was decided in the meeting that the wholesalers and retailers of single use plastic will also cooperate and will be informed about their eco-friendly alternatives available in the market. Along with this, a campaign will also be run in collaboration with the Municipal Corporation to make people use these options. At the same time, during the proceedings, strict action will also be taken against the industries and wholesalers manufacturing single use plastic.
