Giving information, Minister Sarang said that this ROB was built 50 years ago. In the recent inspection, it was found that the bearings in the bridge had deteriorated. It was feared that if its maintenance was not done at the right time, a big accident could happen. Out of 360 bearings of the bridge, 320 bearings have been replaced so far, work is still on to replace 40 bearings. He informed that new asphalt will also be done on the surface of the bridge. Sarang said that the contractor and engineer have been given a deadline of 15 days to reopen the bridge for traffic.
Old and new city traffic is getting affected
Due to the repair work of Bharat Talkies Railway Over Bridge, the traffic of old and new city is getting affected everyday. The situation in the areas around the bridge has become such that it is taking more than half an hour in the morning and evening to cover a distance of just half a km. People going to Bhopal Railway Station, Bajaria, Hamidia Road, Central Library, Pul Patra, Pul Bogda, Arera Hills, MP Nagar, Jail Road are facing lot of problems. Keeping in view the problems of the people, a diversion plan has also been made for the bridge. At present, any kind of heavy vehicles are also not being allowed to move from Bharat Talkies intersection to Pul Patra, Pul Bogda towards Prabhat intersection.
