During charging, an e-bike engaged in charging caught fire at around 2.36 in the night. About 55 e-bikes were also burnt due to its grip. There are also 25 new e-bikes in these, but they did not have batteries, due to which the fire did not take a huge form. Otherwise the accident could have been bigger. After this incident, the Smart City Corporation has given a notice to the company operating the bike. Have asked what were the arrangements to extinguish the fire in the charging station and godown. While according to the information, there were no concrete arrangements for further extinguishing in the godown. According to the Smart City Company, an audit is being conducted by the Municipal Corporation regarding the causes of the fire. The first e-bike facility was started in Bhopal two months back. The biggest of the fire was that the charging station and godown for e-bikes and chartered cycles have been built in the ISBT campus itself. The accident is said to have happened due to short circuit during charging. There is a possibility of major damage due to fire. Fire engines left from Mata Mandir Fire Station at 2.36 pm. The fire could be completely controlled in about three hours. The staff, including firemen Pradeep Sharma, Sumit Kushwaha and Rajpal, could hardly control the fire.
