Senior advocate Raju Ramachandran told the court that IAS officer Shah Faesal and former student activist Shehla Rasheed had withdrawn their petitions related to the matter from the Supreme Court. CJI Chandrachud directed the Registry to remove the names of the two from the list of petitioners. Under Article 370, the people of Jammu and Kashmir were given special rights and privileges from 1954 to 2019 as per the Instrument of Accession. Subsequently, the Jammu and Kashmir (Reorganization) Act of 2019 came into force, bifurcating the erstwhile state into the union territories of Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh.
