Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal said that an important meeting will be held with Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Sukhwinder Singh Sukhu on June 5 on various issues. In this, important issues like construction of Kesau dam, construction of Dadupur to Hamida Head new link channel, rejuvenation of Saraswati river and heritage development project, bringing SYL canal water via Himachal Pradesh, imposition of cess on electricity will be discussed in detail.
The Chief Minister was presiding over a meeting organized by the Irrigation and Water Resources Department, Town and Country Planning and Public Works Department regarding projects worth more than Rs 100 crore. The Chief Minister said that schemes should be prepared on a large scale to drain the water of the waterlogged areas of the state to the drought-prone areas, so that the farmers can get full benefit from it.
Manohar Lal said that it is the priority of the government to provide adequate clean drinking water to the citizens in all areas of the state uninterruptedly. After this water will be available for irrigation to the farmers. For this, work is being done on many schemes for drinking water and irrigation. He said that the water coming from Rajasthan will be stopped by making ponds at various places. Apart from this, work has also been done to increase the capacity of Gurugram Mewat Feeder Canal, JLN Feeder, and to increase the capacity of Hansi branch. He said that these irrigation and water projects will provide relief in the areas with groundwater crisis and industry and farmers will also be able to get water for irrigation.
The Chief Minister said that remodeling of WJC canal in Yamunanagar, concrete link from Munak head to Khubdu in Karnal, remodeling of Gurugram water service channel, increasing the capacity of STPs in Dhanwapur and Baharampur in Gurugram, development of Gorakhpur water conveyance system in Fatehabad, Jhajjar The construction work of Jua drain is being done with an amount of crores of rupees.
The Chief Minister said that it is the effort of the government to strengthen the metro rail and road network to make the best network of Gurugram and Faridabad. Metro Rail and Fast Rail trains run on this route. For this, GMDA will start civil work on 28 kilometer metro rail network in Gurugram within a month. Metro Rail connectivity from Rejangla Chowk to Sector 21 Dwarka, Regional Rapid Transit System from Sarai Kalekhan to Panipat is also being prepared.
