Later, the defendant did not send wooden carts to the agent. After investigating the facts, the police initiated proceedings by opening a fraud case against the accused and his accomplices.

According to police sources, Rohit Kumar, a resident of Virnagar, has a trader in Lakkar Mandi named Titu Timber. He also buys timber in Sarsawa city of Saharanpur, Uttar Pradesh. Here in Yamunanagar Lakkar Mandi, tractor wagon driver Vinay used to bring wood. That was how he had met Vinay. One day a person came by with the defendant Vinay. Who called his name Anil and was himself a resident of Uttar Pradesh. The accused stated that he was also active as a timber contractor. He buys timber from Pratapgarh in Uttar Pradesh. Wood will be available there at reasonable prices. Which can be sold here at good prices. He will have wood sent from Pratapgarh. Send money to your account from here. This saves commuting time. Rohit then fell into his trap and got ready to buy wood.

A few days later, Anil sent him photos of five wooden carts. The deal was finalized after the wood was inspected. He said that the defendant had sent the bill of lading for these wooden carts on his WhatsApp. Defendants Priyanshu Pandey, Saurabh Tripathi, Abhay Gupta and Sadab Ahmed were then given bank account numbers. The accused referred to them as farmers and asked them to deposit money into their accounts. According to the accused, he deposited ten thousand eight hundred rupees into these accounts. Even after waiting several days when the wood didn’t reach him, he contacted the accused by mobile. His number kept getting lost. Investigating from our level, we learned that the defendant’s name was not Anil but Sattabuddin and the persons into whose accounts the defendant deposited the money. He’s not a farmer either. He filed a complaint against the accused with the police. After investigating the matter, the police instituted proceedings and charged the accused with fraud.
