Haryana: Haryana Deputy Chief Minister Dushyant Chautala gave strict instructions to officials that under no circumstances should there be any evasion of liquor tax in the state. The spirits are tracked from distillery to store and a QR code is placed on every bottle and box. The deputy CM gave instructions while chairing the excise department meeting.

He directed that such an online system should be prepared in such a way that all data regarding liquor production, inventory, departure in the vehicle and arrival at the store, sales and inventory in the store can be recorded at the distillery. While reviewing the draft of the system prepared by the department, he also directed to put some other information online. He said there should be a QR code on every liquor bottle. There should then be a separate QR code on the packaging, which can be used to identify which QR code bottles are inside. This move by the ministry will stop liquor smuggling and also increase the revenue of the state government. He gave instructions to curb illegal alcohol consumption and increase the tax as much as possible so that the income generated from it could be invested in the development of the state.
