Sonipat: The manager and cashier of Bandhan Bank in Shastri Nagar jointly embezzled Rs 35 lakh 35 thousand 500 from the accounts of applicants who had applied for a loan. Bank managers Ashok Kumar and Devendra took the loan amount from the applicants with their thumb and the accused also deposited the installments of some applicants. When the applicants came to know about the fraud done to them, they complained to the higher officials of the bank. Following this, senior officer Ajay Singh lodged a complaint against bank manager Ashok Kumar and cashier Devendra at Ganaur police station. The police have registered a case against the accused and are investigating.

In the complaint, Ajay Singh said that his bank works to provide loans to people for their needs and to start businesses. His bank has a branch in Ganaur where manager Ashok Kumar and cashier Devendra Kumar have been appointed. About 58 people had applied for a loan from his bank to meet their needs and business. To do this, the manager first got the applicants to open accounts at his bank, then accepted their documents and applied for the loan. The applicants say that they did not receive the loan even after two months. He visited the bank repeatedly, but the bank manager Ashok Kumar sent him away saying that the money had not reached the bank yet. His fingerprints were also taken from Ashok Kumar.

Applicant Sompal said he has three accounts with the bank. He had applied for credit on all three accounts. He later learned that his loan was applied for, but the money was not credited to his account and his loan installment was also deposited. When the applicants came to know about the fraud committed against them, they complained to the bank’s senior official Ajay Kumar. When Ajay Kumar made inquiries at his level, it was found that both the accused together had embezzled around Rs 35 lakh 35,500 from the bank.

Gannaur police station in-charge Ravi Kumar said that the police have registered a case against Ashok Kumar and Devendra and have initiated an investigation. They have requested documents from bank officials, formed a team and launched an investigation. The accused will soon be arrested.
