Sonipat: Two employees at Bajana Khurd post office have embezzled the amount of social security pension of around Rs.27 lakh rupees. When embezzlement was uncovered during the department’s internal investigation, Post Office Circle Superintendent Sonepat sent a letter to Gannaur Police Station demanding action against the postmasters, but no action was taken. After that, Post Office Circle Superintendent Sonipat sent a reminder letter to Gannaur Police Station five times in a row. The police have now started proceedings against the accused. At present, none of the accused have been arrested by the police.

Sonepat division post chief said that Rishiraj, a resident of District 7 of Kharkhoda, worked as a branch postmaster in Bajana Khurd village from November 2005 to September 2019. In the meantime, he has repeatedly withdrawn money from the accounts of deceased Social Security Pension (old-age pension) account holders via withdrawal forms, showing false thumbprints and signatures and making false statements. Rishiraj was revealed to have withdrawn 1 lakh 65,800.

Pawan Kumar, a postman who works in Bajana Khurd itself, is also accused of withdrawing pension funds from the accounts of deceased pensioners. Pawan Kumar embezzled 25 lakh 33,700, according to the investigation report submitted to Ganaur Police Station by Gohana Post Office Inspector.

The embezzlement amount is expected to increase

Sonipat’s Superintendent in the Postal Department, SK Bhardwaj, said that the department’s investigation had brought to light a case of embezzlement by postal workers and a complaint had been made at Gannaur Police Station. Department officials are still investigating Rishiraj’s embezzlement. He has expressed the great possibility of increasing the embezzlement amount. The embezzled amount may increase further until the investigation is completed.

The police will recover by arresting the accused

Gannaur Police Station Chief Ravi Kumar said police opened an investigation after embezzlement cases were opened against both defendants. Both defendants are soon arrested and efforts are made to recover the money from them.
