Kurukshetra News:Now SDM and BDPO have also swung into action to curb the incidents of crop residue burning in Kurukshetra district. Now, SDMs in their respective sub-divisions and BDPOs in their respective sections will take strict action against those who set fire to crop residues. Importantly, Deputy Commissioner Shantanu Sharma has also handed over the roster to Kurukshetra district officials.

Deputy Commissioner Shantanu Sharma said in the orders issued, SDM Surendra Pal has been appointed as overall in-charge of Thanesar, SDM Pulkit Malhotra of Shahbad, SDM Sonu Ram of Pehowa and SDM Naseeb Kumar as overall in-charge of Ladwa sub-division. These officials will take immediate and strict action against those setting fire to crop residues in their respective sub-districts and sub-villages and ensure that the report is forwarded to the district headquarters without delay. He said a committee has been formed at the block level under the chairmanship of the BDPO. BDPO and two officials were included in this committee. For this season, BDPO Balram Gupta, QCI Sheeshpal and BAO Gulab Singh have been deployed for the Pipli block. 50 people were fined Rs 1 lakh 27,500 for setting fire to crop residues

In Kurukshetra district, farmers setting fire to crop residues are being monitored via satellite as well as by patwari, village secretary and other officials. Through both mediums, information on crop residue burning has been received at 57 locations in the district so far, including 28 information through Harsek satellite and 29 information through village secretary Patwari. Of these 57 locations, reports of fires have been received in 50 locations and action is still being taken in one case. The important aspect is that action was taken against 50 farmers for setting fire to crop residue and a fine of Rs 1 lakh 27,500 was also imposed. Of this fine amount, an amount of Rs 1 lakh 12 thousand 500 was deposited. So far, Agriculture Ministry officials have received information about crop residue burning at 57 locations, including 29 cases through various means and 28 cases through Harsec. Based on this information, it was determined that the crop residue lighting claims were accurate in 50 locations. Action was taken against those who set fires at these 50 locations. Here, a challan was issued against 50 people and a fine of Rs 1 lakh 27,500 was also imposed.
