Panipat: Truck driver strangled, Rs 20,000 missing from his bag

Panipat: The body of driver Satnam Singh alias Satvindra Singh, a resident of Shambhu Kalan village in Patiala, was found in a truck filled with iron scrap at the city’s toll plaza. The matter came to light when the truck parked 30 meters from the toll plaza and failed to cross the toll plaza. On suspicion, the toll worker went into the truck and saw that the driver’s body was inside. There was a towel wrapped in a knot around the driver’s neck. He then informed the police. As soon as the information came, the police reached the spot and informed the family. When family members reached the spot and saw the body, they suspected him of murder. Sector 13-17 police station registered a case and initiated investigation. The body was also kept at the General Hospital mortuary for post-mortem.

The deceased’s brother Harbhajan and transporter Lovepreet said that around 11pm on Friday evening, Satnam loaded iron scrap from Faridabad into a truck and left for Mandi Govindgarh. He crossed Murthal late at night and slept in Karna Dhaba. The last time he spoke to her was at 3 p.m. According to the toll officials, the truck reached lane number 14 at Panipat Toll Plaza at 9:27 a.m. on Saturday and stopped 30 meters on the lane itself. When the truck stopped moving for a long time, they became suspicious. When they got there, they saw that the driver’s body was inside and then informed the police control center. After receiving the information, Sector 13-17 police station in-charge Bilasa Ram reached the spot with his team. The police informed the family. Meanwhile, the van told Lovepreet that he had taken Rs 20,000 from Faridabad. Now they searched his bag and found only his small phone and not 20,000 rupees. There is a suspicion that the murder was committed with intent to rob. The FSL team examined the body and the scene of the accident. On the other hand, Bilasa Ram, SHO of HUDA Sector 13/17 said that Satnam’s death is being investigated.
