Panipat: A couple from Karnal duped Sumit Rathi, a resident of Rajeev Colony, Samalkha, of Rs 59.60 lakh by striking a deal to set up a solar plant. The aggrieved farmer filed a police report against the accused. The police have registered a case against the accused and are investigating.

In the complaint lodged at Samalkha police station, Sumit Rathi said that he owns four bighas of land in which his two brothers are shareholders. Due to the scarcity of land, his family has been growing mushrooms in a hut since last year. Which is only the case in the winter season, the rest of the year is spent unemployed. With this in mind, he registered a company. In 2022, he mortgaged his house and farmland to the bank and built permanent spaces on his farmland so that he could find employment throughout the year. Due to the farm’s high electricity consumption, he inquired about installing a solar system. After that, an employee of Best Haryana Energy in Sector 4, Karnal called him and called him to the office. There he met the company owner Sushil Sharma and his wife Nisha Sharma.

The contract for solar installation was concluded between them for Rs 59,000 lakh 60,000. He took 10,000 rupees from him to complete the order. To start the work on February 6, he took 2 lakh rupees, then 5 lakh rupees. In this way, the accused thugs took a total of Rs 59,000 lakh 60,000 from him several times using excuses. But even after that, the defendant neither installed a solar system nor returned his money. The victim expressed fear that the defendant had used this money for personal purposes. They sent their children abroad. Now they are preparing for the trip themselves. The police have registered a case against Sushil Sharma and Nisha Sharma and have initiated an investigation.
