Ambala: Hardev Singh, a resident of Old Pratap Nagar in the city, was swindled out of Rs 4.5 lakh in the name of investing in business and making 3 per cent profit per month. Following a complaint lodged by Hardev Singh at Baldev Nagar Police Station, a case of fraud and treason was registered against defendant Sunil and his father Jaikaran from Churu, Rajasthan. Hardev Singh complained to the police that the accused worked at the Panchkula Police Headquarters.

Sunil told him that he works in the tourism department. If he invests money in the business, then there can be up to 3 percent profit per month. He acted on the defendant’s words and gradually gave Rs 4.50 lakh. The defendant gave him little money for a few days and then refused to give it. He then called the defendant to his home for an interview and asked him to pay back the amount he had given. The defendant gave him a check and when he deposited the check into her bank account, the check was rejected due to a signature mismatch.

The defendant then accepted his mistake and re-deposited the check. When he took the check to the bank, he found there was no money in his account and returned with the check. After that, the defendant stopped answering his calls. When he met the accused, they flatly refused to give the money. On the contrary, he was threatened that if he asked for money again, the consequences would be dire. According to the applicant, the accused Jaikaran is employed as an assistant in Sector 6 Panchkula of the Police Department. By capturing him in his words, he snatched Rs 4.5 lakh from him. The police are investigating the matter
