Kaithal: 10 years in prison for drug possession, fined one lakh

Kaithal: A man has been sentenced by the Court of Special Judge and Additional Sessions Judge Krishna Kant to 10 years of severe imprisonment and a fine of Rs 100,000 for possession of prohibited drugs. Failure to pay the fine will result in an additional one-year prison sentence.

On August 24, 2020, ASI Balraj Singh of Anti-Narcotic Cell had registered a case under NDPS at Guhla Police Station. DDA Jasbir Singh Dhanda represented the case on behalf of the state and said that on August 24, 2020, ASI Balraj Singh, ESI Joginder Singh, ESI Baljit Singh, ESI Krishna Kumar, ASI Shubhkaran and HC Raj Singh were present along with Cheeka Guhla and Ratta Kheda Were , Daba While passing the village, Chaba reached the liquor store. There, a person stopped the vehicle and said that Gurdeep Singh aka Rokha was doing business selling intoxicating pills at his home. Earlier, his son Harvinder Singh was also caught with drugs. A team prepared for a raid and together with the detective went to Chaba Gurdeep Singh’s house in the village. When their car reached the street behind Gurdeep Singh’s house, one person came out of the room and immediately went back into the room when they saw the police in front of them.

As Balraj entered the room behind him, he saw the man hiding behind the door. When he saw the police, he left the polythene in his hand on the floor of the room. Five cartridge leaves came out of the plastic wrap and scattered on the floor. When checking the tablets, it was found that the name of the tablets was Clovidol 100 SR and 10 tablets were found in each sheet. A total of 1500 tablets were found in 150 sheets in polyethylene. The police prepared the challan and presented it to the court. A total of 11 witnesses appeared and 26 documents were produced. After hearing both sides, ADJ Krishnakant sentenced the convict Gurdeep to 10 years imprisonment and a fine of one lakh rupees, based on witnesses and evidence. The convict is already in prison.
