Jind: In Safidon area, a young man committed suicide by jumping in front of a train after being taunted by his family members for a love marriage. The Safidon police have registered a case against 12 people, including the parents, sister and brother-in-law of the deceased youth, on the complaint of the deceased’s wife. The police are investigating the matter

Jyoti, a resident of Singhpura village, said in her complaint to the railway police that she had a love marriage with Narendra. After the marriage they both came to Safidon and began to live there. Since her marriage, her mother-in-law Rekha and father-in-law Ramesh behaved rudely towards her. The in-laws were not happy with their love marriage. Apart from her sister-in-law, her brothers-in-law Vikram, Rajesh and Dimple also supported her. He had complained about this to the police, following which the accused withdrew the complaint by threatening to kill Narendra. On October 20, her in-laws beat up her husband Narendra and demanded Rs 20,000. He was beaten up because of it.

On October 24 at 8.30 am she left for Rohtak and her husband Narendra took her in the bus. From behind, her in-laws again harassed her husband Narendra by abusing her. Her husband was injured as a result and committed suicide by jumping in front of the train. On Jyoti’s complaint, Railway Police arrested Singhpura village resident Ramesh, Ramesh’s wife Rekha, Naresh, Naresh’s wife Kavita, Rajesh’s wife Nisha, Dimple’s wife Manisha, Vikram’s wife Payal, Vikram, Rajesh, Dimple, Deep, Deep’s wife. A case has been lodged against Sinha under various sections including abetment to suicide.
