Delhi Pollution: Air pollution has completely engulfed the capital Delhi. Due to air pollution, people’s breathing is in danger. With every breath, the people of Delhi are inhaling smoke equivalent to 40-50 cigarettes into their lungs throughout the day. Delhi has completely transformed into a gas chamber. As soon as they step out of their homes, they are facing burning sensation in the eyes and difficulty in breathing. Meanwhile, Delhi Lieutenant Governor VK Saxena held a meeting with Delhi Environment Minister Gopal Rai and senior officials. In this meeting, there was a detailed discussion on controlling the increasing pollution.

What did Gopal Rai say in the meeting?

The Minister said that we have requested the Lieutenant Governor to issue an instruction, all the senior officers should work actively. Rai said that we said that pollution prevention work should be done by talking to the neighboring states and with everyone’s cooperation. Rai further said that we have requested to issue instructions to all the officers that the officers should not boycott the government and work together. Gopal Rai said that all the officers are becoming inactive at the behest of the Central Government. If inactive, implementation will become a challenge.

Delhi CM did not attend

In view of the increasing pollution, Delhi Lieutenant Governor VK Saxena had expressed concern. He had asked Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal and Environment Minister Gopal Rai for a meeting at Raj Niwas at 06:00 pm today to take stock of the pollution situation. Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal did not attend the meeting called by the Governor, because he is holding a public meeting in Chhattisgarh in connection with the assembly elections. However, Gopal Rai definitely attended this meeting.

Delhi AQI crosses 800

Let us tell you that the air quality of Delhi was recorded in the severe category on Friday morning. There was a blanket of fog in Delhi throughout the day. For the first time this season, Delhi’s AQI has crossed the 800 mark. This morning, the AQI of Lodhi Road crossed 500, while the AQI of Anand Vihar was recorded at 865 around 10 am. On the other hand, the air quality index of Noida Sector-62 was recorded at 558.

These restrictions will be implemented in the fourth phase of GRAP.

Till now, on the basis of air quality, the second phase of GRAP was implemented in Delhi, but now the third phase has been implemented when AQI is between 401 to 500. Under this, entry of commercial vehicles and trucks and non-essential construction work and demolition in Delhi has been banned. Now even BS-3 and BS-4 diesel vehicles will not be able to enter Delhi. This will affect more than 3 lakh vehicles. Earlier, the Environment Minister had started the Red Light On Vehicle Off campaign. The Delhi government feels that implementing GRAP 3 can improve the air quality in the capital.
