Jind: On the call of Sarvjatiya Sarvakhap of the district, Chaudharyas of more than 24 khaps protested against civil partnership and increasing marriage age for girls to 21 years. He talked about the negative impact of cohabitation and increasing the marriage age on society and the deteriorating social fabric. Khap Chaudhary then handed over a memorandum addressed to the President to DC Mohammad Imran Raza. Khap Choudhary said that the government will wait until the winter session after which a panchayat of khaps will be convened and the movement will be launched.

Khap Choudhary and Sarvakhap spokesman Umed Singh Jaglan, who reached the mini-secretariat, said no age has been set for the exit relationship. Neither society nor the family were viewed as a unit. It is not clear who will be responsible for the legally born child, his upbringing and succession. Married men and women abandon their children. Which affects the social fabric. Families fall apart. Children born from cohabitation will lead to more property and family disputes. This law will have a negative impact on the Hindu Marriage Act. For this reason, the law on relationship leave should be changed. He said that the girl’s marriage age was earlier fixed at 18 years. Which was increased to 21 years, which is wrong. Under certain circumstances, a girl can be married earlier. Taking these circumstances into account, the marriage age should be reduced. After this, Khaps DC Chaudhary met Mohammad Imran Raza and submitted a memorandum to the President demanding changes in both laws.

Khap Chaudhary said we will wait till the winter session. Then the khaps are called, strategies are developed and the movement is heard. District general secretary of Sarvkhap Gurvindra Singh said that the social fabric is being damaged due to leave-in relationships. Men and women live separately, with the exception of children, which is protected by law. Controversies are increasing. We also face problems regarding the age of marriage. Changes are necessary in both laws. If there is no change in the law, there will be a compulsion to protest. Head of Kandela Khap, Omprakash Kandela, said that a leave-in relationship goes against our tradition and social values. Which is also a violation of the Hindu Marriage Act. Families fall apart. The hostility is increasing. Married people leave their children and live with others. The marriage age for girls was also unfairly raised. The government should make changes to both laws in the winter session. If this does not happen, a Khapa meeting is called and the movement is started.
