Jhajjar: Caught 70 counts of electricity theft, fined Rs 18 lakh

Jhajjar: Uttar Haryana Bijli Vitran Nigam’s team conducted a raid campaign to expose electricity theft throughout the district. The Electricity Corporation team caught 70 cases and fined them more than Rs 18,000. The ongoing campaign is being run by Electricity Corporation.

As part of the campaign launched on Saturday morning, 13 teams from the company searched 250 locations and found 70 cases of electricity theft and fined them more than Rs 18,000. Saurabh, SDO of the Corporation, said this campaign started around 3:30am and lasted until around 10am. 20 cases were caught in Beri area and 25-25 in Jhajjar and Bahadurgarh areas. Notifications will now be sent to these people on Monday, after which the person concerned will have to pay the fine within a week. In that case, if an individual fails to pay the fine, an FIR will be filed by the corporation in the affected police station area.
