Haryana: The three-day successful Mahapadav of agricultural workers ended. At the invitation of the Governor of Haryana, a 21-member delegation comprising representatives of 17 United Kisan Morcha and three trade unions was tasked with negotiating the memorandum. Two memoranda on farmers and agriculture were sent to the governor. One of them was linked to the central government and the other to the state government. Unions submitted memoranda covering workers in various departments. There was a conversation with Governor Bandaru Dattatreya on all issues for about an hour.

On behalf of farmers on issues such as legal guarantee of the minimum support price, withdrawal of change in electricity bill, crop damage compensation, gantry issues, debt relief, etc. and on behalf of trade unions on issues such as increase in minimum wage, permanent employment for permanent positions, contract workers. Discussions were held on legalization, restoration of old pension, rural sanitation workers’ strike and labor law, etc. The governor assured that he would refer all these issues to the concerned governments so that they can take appropriate measures. Even today, on the third day of the stoppage, workers of farmer organizations stopped in Panchkula in large numbers. Large groups of forest officials, rural sanitation workers, Asha workers and Anganwadi workers traveled from across the state on behalf of the CITU labor body. In solidarity, a group from Sarv Karmachari Sangh Haryana also reached the stopping point.

On behalf of the delegation returning from Raj Bhavan, senior leader of Kisan Morcha Haryana, Master Balbir Singh presented the details of the discussions in the General Assembly. He said he would wait for action for two weeks and would hold a meeting of United Kisan Morcha in Hisar on December 11 and decide on further strategy. This ended the three-day Mahapadav. At the break, Haryana Agriculture Minister Jai Prakash Dalal was strongly condemned for his highly objectionable comments and asked to apologize to the farmers. What is noteworthy is that a video of the Agriculture Minister’s speech is going viral, in which he uses very offensive language towards those associated with the movement.
