Ambala: The farmers took hostage the officials who had come to take action against the farmer who was burning the stubble residue in Shahpur village. The officers remained in the farmers’ custody for several hours. This is the second case of officers being taken hostage in a week. Despite the government’s strictness, farmers have said they will take such measures in the future. Farmers said that if the government tries to take such measures again, similar concrete measures will be taken against the officials who come to investigate.

In fact, Patwari and Agriculture Department officials had reached Shahpur on Thursday to call the farmer who had burnt the remains. Farmers associated with Bharatiya Kisan Union Shaheed Bhagat Singh got wind of this matter. After that, all the farmers reached the place. The farmers took hostage the officials who came here to trade. Afterwards, there was a heated argument between the farmer and the team that had been taken hostage. Farmers said officials could get instant information about rice residue burning through satellite, but why are they not getting information about the damage caused to their crops? Many hectares of farmers’ crops were destroyed by the flood, but the government has not yet released compensation. The farmers also questioned the agriculture ministry officials that the administration was preventing farmers from setting fire to the crops but had not provided them with agricultural equipment.

After a long argument, the matter was settled. The farmers said that if the Agriculture Ministry team comes to the fields to challenge the farmers, it will be against it. Farmers had already taken the investigation team hostage. Even then, officials from the Ministry of Agriculture had to be on site. Even then, the farmers had clearly stated that any official who came to take action would be taken hostage in this way. Bharatiya Kisan Union President Shaheed Bhagat Singh Amarjeet Singh Mohadi said they will not be spared if authorities take arbitrary action against such farmers. A similar attitude is taken against them. The farmer deliberately harasses the farmers on the pretext of burning stubble. No farmer breaks the law.
