Sonipat MP and Mayor held a one-day symbolic dharna against the failure and corruption of Sonipat Municipal Corporation officials. The MLA has announced it will also go on hunger strike if the system does not improve within 15 days. The MLA Congressional Mayor as well as other Congressional-backed corporations were also present at the dharna.
Sonipat MLA Surendra Panwar said the entire city was flooded due to the recent rains. To deal with it, the authorities had neither a method nor a plan. He said that over the past six months, there have been calls from members of Congress and public officials for all sewers to be cleaned smoothly. As for the real estate ID, the whole city has been in line for several days non-stop, but their work is still not done. He said that there are garbage heaps all over the city and no official is working seriously. Every day, locals turn to Sonepat Municipal Corporation to get their jobs done. But people keep thronging from one door to the other for their work, and even today many people have arrived there keeping their problems.
Instructions to officials are not followed: mayors
Sonipat Mayor Nikhil Madan said that many months before the monsoons, officials were given instructions to clean the drains and sewers smoothly, but no louse would crawl on an official’s ears. Two days ago, he wrote a letter to the state’s prime minister, telling him that the city’s status would be announced by county officials today. He said officers are working on their own terms and no one knows whose policies they are working under.
