ASI and Police Chief arrested for taking bribes of Rs 50,000 in Panchkula

A team from the Haryana Anti Corruption Bureau arrested an Assistant Sub Inspector (ASI) and a police chief at Sector 15 Police Post in Panchkula while accepting a bribe of Rs 50,000. A bribe was paid in a bicycle theft. A case against Ravinder Kumar, an ASI based in Ambala, was also registered in this case.

The defendants arrested are ASI Neeraj Kumar and Police Chief Darshan Singh. Both were stationed at the Sector 15 Police Post. Both were arrested on reports from a Karnal resident. The arrested ASI and the Chief of Police sought bribes from the applicant by falsely implicated in the motorcycle theft case registered in Sector 14, Panchkula, and threatened him with arrest.

Based on the complaint, after fact-checking, the ACB team formed a raid team and arrested defendant ASI Neeraj Kumar and Police Chief Darshan Singh for accepting a bribe of Rs. 50,000. The ACB will also soon arrest the third defendant and investigate his role in the case. In this regard, a case under the Corruption Prevention Law was registered against the accused at the ACB Police Station in Panchkula. Further investigations into this matter are ongoing.
