Delhi Police registers FIR against wrestlers.
The Delhi Police has registered a case against the Wrestlers, who have been protesting for almost 36 days against Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh, President of the Wrestling Federation of India (WFI). The Delhi Police on Sunday registered an FIR against the organizers of the wrestlers’ protest under various sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC). These include Vinesh Phogat, Sakshi Malik and Bajrang Punia. According to media reports, some wrestlers had returned to the protest site, but were turned back by the police.
Taking a dig at the government, Vinesh Phogat said on Twitter that the Delhi Police takes seven days to register an FIR against Brij Bhushan for sexual harassment and an FIR against us for protesting peacefully. Khap panchayats, farmers and pro-wrestlers of different states protesting at Jantar-Mantar had announced to hold ‘Mahila Samman Mahapanchayat’ near Parliament House.
