Giving relief to Buchibabu Gorantla, accused in Delhi’s Excise Policy case, the Rouse Avenue Court granted bail. The CBI team had arrested the former CA of the BRS leader’s poem from Hyderabad. The CBI had produced Buchibabu Gorantla in the special CBI court a few days ago, after which Gorantla was sent to judicial custody by the court. On this matter, the CBI had said that Gorantla should not be sent to police custody but to judicial custody. After this today Buchibabu Gorantla was granted bail on Monday.

He has got bail so far in Delhi’s Excise Policy case

Delhi’s Rouse Avenue Court had granted bail to Sameer Mahendru, Kuldeep Singh, Narendra Singh, Arun Ramachandran Pillai and Mutha Gautam in the Delhi Excise Policy case. The CBI had presented the charge sheet against them. According to media reports, due to being named in the charge sheet, these accused had filed a petition for regular bail, which was accepted by the court. Among these accused, Sameer Mahendru was arrested by the ED.

What was Delhi Excise Policy

Under Delhi’s excise policy, the capital was divided into 32 zones, with at least 26 to 27 liquor shops open in each zone. In this way liquor was easily available in every area. Means try to understand in simple words, where earlier 60 percent shops were in government and 40 percent shops were in private hands. After the introduction of Delhi’s new excise policy, 100 percent of the shops were handed over to private hands.

Delhi government withdraws excise policy

The Excise Policy was implemented by the Delhi government in 2021. After its implementation, the BJP had alleged a scam in it. The government had to withdraw this policy in 2022 after protests by the opposition. A recommendation was made to the Ministry of Home Affairs to get the matter investigated by the CBI. Since then, CBI and ED are continuously tightening the noose in this matter.
