Contract employees of Delhi Transport Corporation (DTC) took out a bike rally on May 1, Labor Day, for regularization and other demands. With the help of the rally, the contract employees have demanded from Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal that they should be regularized first. The bike rally was organized by DTC Employees Unity Union. Describing the success of this rally, Union President Lalit Chaudhary and General Secretary Manoj Sharma said that now the struggle has started, which will stop only when the demands of the employees are fulfilled. He said that despite the rain, the workers stood firm in support of their demands.

Know what is the demand of the employees

Both jointly said that the employees have made the bike rally successful in a peaceful manner by staying within the limits. Apart from this, the union also gave a memorandum regarding the demands to Shilpa Shinde, MD, DTC. According to the information, the rally started from DTC Headquarters Indraprastha Depot and after walking about 51 km via Ring Road, ended back at Head Quarters. The main demands included in the memorandum include regularization of all contract workers, purchase of DTC’s own buses by the government, implementation of equal pay for equal work till the job is not regularised.

Employees appealed to implement their demands immediately

Along with this, the employees are demanding that the DTC driver should be given first priority on DTC payroll in the buses coming in the DTC fleet, the cleaning staff working in DTC should be given 8 hours job and equal pay and minimum wage for the same work, Change over system should be stopped immediately, duty of employees should be shifted from depot to depot, transfer of DTC employees should be done near the respective employee’s house, DTC’s own buses should be run at interstate level and kilometer scheme of DTC and cluster buses should be abolished. Go etc. is included. The organization has appealed to Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal and Transport Minister Kailash Gehlot to fulfill their old promises by immediately implementing the demands of the employees.
