This will be the first time in India, when luxury premium buses will ply on the roads of Delhi. Booking of tickets in these buses will be done through app or web only and everyone will definitely get a seat. CM said that the transport sector of Delhi should be at par with the most developed countries of the world. There is a lot of traffic in Delhi because there are more private vehicles. If people traveling on cars and scooters have to be taken on public transport, then we have to ensure it is comfortable, safe and its timing. The biggest revolution in Delhi’s transport sector came when the Metro started. Middle and upper middle class left their vehicles and started going by metro. Due to this, there was a reduction in the number of vehicles on the roads of Delhi, but gradually the traffic on the roads of Delhi has increased a lot. Metro is overcrowded. People do not get a place to sit in the metro and the journey is not comfortable. That’s why many people have started traveling back in their vehicles.

Will be able to travel only by taking online ticket

The CM said that we were working on the premium bus scheme for the last four-five years. This is the first experiment of its kind in the entire country. Such premium buses have not been run anywhere in the whole country under a scheme. These premium buses will be comfortable. All buses will be air-conditioned. These will have the facility of Wi-Fi, GPS, CCTV, panic button. Booking of tickets for travel in premium buses will be app or web based. Rent has to be paid digitally. People taking tickets will get seats conditionally.

Aggregator will not have to pay license fee for bringing electric buses

CM told about the conditions of license of premium buses that no bus older than three years will be allowed in it. Whatever buses will be brought under the premium bus scheme, they will not be more than three years old. All the buses will be of CNG. All the buses that will be purchased after 01 January 2024 will be electric. Under this, license will be given to the aggregator. In this he will have to pay some license fee. At the same time, the aggregator bringing electric buses will not have to pay any license fee. All buses should have at least 12 seats. The aggregator must first obtain a license from the government. An aggregator will have to operate and maintain at least 50 buses within 90 days of getting the license.

Aggregator will decide the fare of premium buses according to the market

CM said that the special thing in this scheme is that the route for plying of buses will not be decided by the Delhi government, but the aggregator itself will decide the route of the buses according to the traffic, but it will have to inform the Delhi government about it. Where there is more traffic, more buses will ply there. The aggregator will decide the fare of premium buses according to the market. The only condition of the Delhi government is that the premium bus fare should be more than the DTC fare. A logo, color code and uniform of premium buses are being decided. The aggregator can earn revenue by advertising inside the bus.

Aggregator will be able to do branding and advertisement in buses

The Delhi government will also allow the aggregator to do branding and advertisements inside the bus to generate revenue. All buses will follow the same color and people. Aggregator can generate revenue for himself by doing advertisement inside the bus, but violation of prescribed conditions will attract penalty as per section 193 of MV Act 1988. If the buses (50) are not made operational within 90 days, the security amount will be forfeited.
