A gang of fake policemen extorting in the name of AATS unit of Delhi Police has been exposed. Six impersonators have been arrested in this connection. Their names have been given as Dimple Panchal alias Ashu, resident of Gulabi Bagh, Sonu Sahni, resident of Shahabad Daulatpur, Vinod, Mohit, resident of Sonipat Haryana, village Barwala, Mukesh, resident of Delhi and Deepak, resident of Sant Nagar Burari. A WagonR car, fake identity card of sub-inspector, file cover of Delhi Police, a police diary and ASI uniform have been recovered from them.

According to the police, on March 31, the AATS team received information that a gang was extorting liquor from smugglers in the name of their unit. There was information about his arrival in the Bawana industrial area. At the input, the police team laid a trap at the designated place and caught six people moving in a WagonR car. The number plate of Haryana registration was on the car. During interrogation, it was revealed that they used to extort money from liquor smugglers by impersonating themselves as AATS unit of Delhi Police.

Among the accused, Dimple Panchal has done a tour and travel course after completing 12th. After this he worked in finance for some time. He has already been arrested in the rape case. Presently he used to work as an informer for the Excise Department and two cases including rape have been registered against him. Accused Deepak Tyagi had taken admission in MBA from Symbiosis Pune after his graduation. However, he dropped out after two years and started working as a marketing salesman. He has also worked as a supervisor in many hospitals. He had left the job three to four months back. Sonu Sahni used to work as an informer for the Excise Department. Two cases of liquor smuggling have been found on this.

Vinod earlier used to sell building material in the village but later got into the business of illegal liquor. A case of liquor smuggling has also been found on this. Mohit is a graduate from MDU Rohtak. He has been involved in the kidnapping case. He used to work as a financier on a small scale. Whereas Mukesh used to do business of property dealing. Six cases including robbery, kidnapping have been registered on this. On their arrest, the police claimed to have solved four cases.
