Delhi: 300 cheated in the name of getting job in Prasar Bharati, 1 accused arrested

Police has busted the racket of cheating in the name of getting job in Prasar Bharati. The Economic Offenses Wing of Delhi Police has arrested an accused in this connection on Friday. There is an allegation of cheating about 300 people on this. The name of the accused has been told as Pankaj Gupta. According to the police, a case was registered against it on the complaint of Sarfaraz Ahmed and three others. It was alleged in the complaint that Pankaj Gupta had cheated in the name of getting a job in Prasar Bharati.

Case filed against the accused under these sections

The complainant further stated that accused Pankaj has taken Rs.3000 from each person in the name of registration and filling of application forms. Thus Gupta absconded after taking money from around 300 people. He had also switched off his phone. After preliminary investigation, a case under sections 419, 420, 468, 471 and 120B of IPC was registered against the accused at the Economic Offenses Wing police station.

DCP MI Haider said that the accused created fake email IDs in the name of Prasar Bharati and prepared fake emails purportedly sent by Prasar Bharati. Screenshots of these fake emails were shared with the complainants to win their confidence. During investigation the officials of Prasar Bharati Office, Copernicus Marg, New Delhi were inquired about the vacancies and they denied publication of any vacancies.

During investigation it has also come to light that the copy of the email purportedly made in the name of Prasar Bharati was fake. Investigation revealed that the accused and his father were suppliers of books to the Prasar Bharati Secretariat. That’s why he knew the working of Prasar Bharati. Pankaj Gupta is unemployed and lives on rent with his family. The police arrested it on 19 April.
