New Delhi: Khalistani supporter Amritpal Singh’s stay at Ramesh Park in Laxmi Nagar for one night has come to the fore. A DU second year student lives on rent in the house where he stayed with his partner Papalpreet Singh. She came in contact with Papalpreet during the farmer’s movement. After that both of them became friends. The team of Punjab Police and Special Cell is interrogating the girl.
Amritpal appeared in a video that surfaced on social media on Tuesday. In that he was accompanied by his associate Papalpreet Singh. In the video, Amritpal Singh is seen without a turban and wearing a mask. There is no date on this CCTV footage and it is said to be of a market in Delhi. In it, Amritpal is seen walking on the road wearing dark glasses, while Papalpreet Singh is seen walking behind him with a bag.
No official statement has come from the Punjab Police on this new footage. A senior Delhi Police officer said they are probing whether the men seen in the video are Amritpal Singh and his associate Papalpreet Singh. Police reached a house with the help of that CCTV footage. The footage was shown to a 22-year-old girl found here, who identified the two youths seen in the footage as Amritpal and Papalpreet.
The girl told that she is a DU second year student. Lives here on rent. Both came to his house on 20 March. She already knew Papalpreet. Both of them had come to know each other during the farmer’s movement and on his request Amritpal Singh was given shelter to stay in the house. However, she did not know Amritpal. After this revelation, the police is verifying the role of the girl. Both Punjab Police and Special Cell have interrogated this girl. If it becomes clear in the investigation that he deliberately hid Amritpal Singh at his house, then the Punjab Police can file a case against him and take legal action. The girl herself is originally from Punjab.
