Finance Minister Kailash Gehlot has started presenting the budget in the Delhi Assembly. During this, he said that the Delhi government is committed to zero tolerance towards corruption and does doorstep and faceless delivery of services.
Delhi’s Finance Minister said that between 2015-23, the network of Delhi Metro doubled. Today the number of buses has increased to 7,379, which is the highest. Today the government has made Delhi a tricolor city. The upcoming budget is important for Delhi as we are hosting the G20. So this budget is dedicated to a clean, beautiful and modern Delhi.
Finance Minister Kailash Gehlot said Delhi is getting only Rs 325 crore as its share in central taxes since 2001. He said, Delhi has been affected due to GST compensation ending in June 2022. Also further said that when people go abroad, the first thing that comes to mind is road and cleanliness. This makes us wonder and we wonder why such a road is not there in India. Roads are being upgraded as per global standards.
With this, the Finance Minister further said that nine different schemes and programs have been made to beautify the Delhi road network. 26 new flyovers and underpasses will be built. 1,600 new electric buses will come. Free world class ISBTs will be developed.
Public transport system will be improved
The Finance Minister said that Delhi will spend Rs 28,556 crore over the next 12 years for the induction of electric buses. In 2023-24, Rs 3500 crore will be set aside to improve Delhi’s public transport system. Rs 1500 crore will be spent on the electrification of 57 bus depots.
ISBT Sarai Kale Khan and Anand Vihar will be developed on the lines of the airport. It will have commercial complexes. International standard ISBT will also be developed in Dwarka.
Announcement of Mohalla Bus Scheme
Delhi’s Finance Minister Kailash Gahlot announced Mohalla Bus Scheme for last mile connectivity. Said that 100 e-buses will be launched in 2023-24 and there are plans to launch 2,180 in the next 2 years.
