In this regard, DMRC’s Principal Executive Director of DMRC Corporate Communication, Anuj Dayal told that the speed of Express Metro will be 100 km. Hourly work was a task full of engineering challenges, but the foresight of DMRC’s skilled engineers, excellent planning and tireless hard work of the employees accepted all the challenges and achieved success.
He said that with this, the Airport Express Line has now become the only metro service in the country running at a speed of 100 km. According to the information, earlier the mandatory certificate was obtained from the Commissioner of Metro Rail Safety. After DMRC Airport Metro, now the speed of trains will be increased to 120 kmph in a graded manner. Will start the task to do hourly. Activities necessary to increase the speed of the metro on the airport line, such as replacement of some parts of the metro track, renovation of civil structures and some technical improvements within the metro train itself, were carried out in a planned manner, which resulted in the completion of the metro well ahead of the target. This work was completed in six months.
The major activity was replacement of over 2.6 lakh existing tension clamps on rails with high frequency tension clamps over the entire AEL network. After the increase in speed, the time taken by commuters traveling on this line between New Delhi Airport and Dwarka Sector-21 metro stations will come down to 21 minutes, while in the next phase the travel time will further come down to just 120 kmph after the speed is increased. 19 minutes will remain. The average number of passengers per day traveling on the Airport Express Line is about 65 thousand.
