For 12 years, the voice of the villagers is buried in the ash dam

Umesh Yadav-Korba. The dam built at Godhi to store ash from CSEB’s DSPM thermal power plant in Korba district of Chhattisgarh has become a headache for some. Due to various reasons, 50 acres of agricultural land of the surrounding farmers has become barren. On the other hand, CSEB is neither giving compensation nor permanent employment to these people. Former Home Minister and Rampur MLA Nankiram Kanwar reached Godi village and talked to the victims and contacted the authorities for a solution.

Let us tell you that in Godhi village under Revenue Sub-Division Korba, the power generation company has built a dam to store the ash coming out of its DSPM power plant. For this, a lot of nearby land has been taken and the concerned people were provided employment apart from compensation under the rules. On the other hand, many problems have arisen due to the water coming out of the dam. The water of Rakhar Dam fills the fields due to which farming is not possible. And the water has also become contaminated. Due to technical reasons, 50 acres of fertile land has become barren. People cannot do farming on this and CSEB is not giving any kind of compensation to them.

MLA Nankiram Kanwar reached the village

Former Home Minister of Chhattisgarh and MLA from Rampur region, Nankiram Kanwar reached this village to listen to the people who are facing continuous trouble. Here people made Nankiram Kanwar aware of their problems. Affected villager Manoj Mahilange said that since the construction of the dam in the year 2005, the problem has persisted here. CSEB is not solving this issue. On the other hand, Lakhan Lal, a villager, told that, the ash flying from the dam is continuously creating problems. From electricity to other problems also persist here.

Discussion with the executive engineer of DSPM for redressal

Along with understanding the problem after talking to the villagers, MLA Nankiram Kanwar discussed with the executive engineer of DSPM for redressal. Kanwar told that, the flow of the drain along the Rakhar dam has been obstructed and due to this the farmers are not able to do their work. Whereas, the option which was given in the name of employment later became of contract category, it is wrong in itself.

Due to the dam of the electricity company in Godhi village, problems have been persisting for a long time. The villagers complained about this at different times, but could not find a solution. It has to be seen whether any result emerges after this issue comes to the knowledge of the MLA.
