Devesh Sahu / Balodabazar- The collector has issued a notice for the imposition and recovery of heavy fines on three cement companies located in Balodabazar, Chhattisgarh. According to the MDPA, the notice has been issued for non-production of minerals from the mines and breach of contract.

UltraTech Cement Ravana Cement Limited and Nuvoco Vistas Corporation Company have violated the Mineral Development and Production Agreement (MDPA). According to the Department of Minerals, 157.122 hectares of land in Guma was given to Ultratech Cement Ravana for the mine. On this, a notice was issued on April 10 for the recovery of Rs 24 crore 10 lakh 56 thousand 97. Which was challenged by the company in the High Court. After the order from the High Court, the district administration has issued the recovery order.

Similarly, Cement Limited was given permission to mine 225.719 hectares at Karhi Chandi Khapradih. In which an order has been issued for the recovery of Rs 3 crore 41 lakh 23 thousand 250. Whereas Nuvoco Vistas Corporation was given 294.160 hectares for the mine. The company has been issued a notice to deposit Rs 2 crore 11 lakh 61 thousand, 294 including royalty, DFF, TCS and Environment Cess on the quantum of shortfall in production as per clause 4.3.2 of MDPA.

Tell me, the collector has issued a notice for imposing huge fine on cement companies and for recovery. In this regard, District Mineral Officer KK Banjare has told that, on the notice, reply has been sought from the three companies in 7 days. If the reply is not received within 7 days, then this fine will be recovered from the amount deposited with the lessee companies.
