Raipur. The outdoor stadium of the capital has fallen victim to chaos. Due to lack of regular maintenance work, the ground has now become a jungle of grass. Half of the stadium is under the control of bushes. Because of this, players have now stopped coming to the field. The space for playing like this in the city has reduced. The field has also started shrinking, now the outdoor stadium has also been included in it. With the stadium in ruins, the land has also fallen into disrepair. Wild grass and trees have grown on the field. When News2News.in investigated it, it was found that SAI and Sports Authority of India are responsible for the maintenance of the grounds, but for the last one year, the officials of SAI did not pay any attention towards the maintenance. This is the reason why even the city’s outdoor stadium is now away from the players.

Lack of maintenance staff

SAI has to do the work of cleaning and maintenance of the stadium, but there is not enough staff for this work. According to the in-charge of SAI, there is only one staff, who works for cutting the grass of the field. Because of this, it takes time to clean the entire stadium. SAI does not even have the resources to cut the grass. According to the rules, the ground has to be cleaned every month, but after it became desolate, when the players left the field, even the SAI officials forgot to do the maintenance.

Thieves took away the grill from the field after it was destroyed.

Now the stadium has become a den of anti-social elements. Thieves have removed the grills installed around the stadium. Sai and Municipal Corporation have not even registered its complaint with the police. Along with this the shed has also been broken. Nearby shopkeepers have now started throwing garbage inside the stadium and at the entrance. There is a pile of garbage inside and outside the grounds.

less staff so it is taking time

In-charge, SAI Kesari Tripathi told that SAI does the maintenance of the grounds. The cleaning work has started. The grass is being cut. We are short of staff, so it is taking some time.
