Bihar Stone Pelting: During the idol immersion procession in Chhapra, miscreants pelted stones from the rooftops of houses. After this, two groups clashed with each other and heavy stone pelting started from both the sides. On seeing the incident, additional police force was immediately sent to the spot. Six people are said to be injured in the attack. The police have controlled the situation. In view of the tension between the two groups, internet has been banned in the area for two days. It has also been said that strict action will be taken against those spreading rumours.
Controversy over DJ’s voice
Police said the incident took place in Naya Bazaar area of Chhapra city, where people pelted stones at the procession as it passed through the minority area. After the clash started around 5 in the morning, Saran SP Dr Gaurav Mangala, other senior officers and police force teams reached the spot. Police said heavy police force has been deployed in the area to bring the law and order situation under control.
The SP said preliminary investigation revealed that the Durga immersion procession was passing in front of a mosque when it was attacked. Angered by the sound of the DJ, the miscreants started pelting stones at the procession. The statue and some houses were also damaged in this stone pelting incident. However, after the police action, the Durga idol immersion program was completed peacefully.
Such incident happened in Bhojpur also
Even before this, such an incident had come to light in Bihar. A procession going for idol immersion in Shahpur in Bhojpur district of the state was pelted with stones from the rooftop on NH 84 near Shahpur market. In which many people were injured and there was chaos. After the stone pelting, nearby shopkeepers closed their shops. All the injured people were admitted to the hospital for treatment by the police. Also, top officials reached the spot and pacified everyone.
