Uttarkashi Tunnel Rescue: Each day of the 41 laborers trapped in the tunnel of Uttarkashi is equivalent to a year. But there is a light of hope in the darkness of the tunnel. It has been 15 days since the workers were trapped in the tunnel. A lot of problems are being faced during the rescue operation. The workers are facing difficulty in getting out due to the drilling machine getting stuck in the pipe installed for rescue work. The parts of the machine can be completely removed by this afternoon. After this drilling will resume.
What problem faced the rescue operation?
The workers are trapped 57 meters inside the entry gate of the tunnel. A rescue pipe was installed after digging 45 meters of it. After complete drilling, a plan was made to take out the workers on stretchers inside the rescue pipe. Therefore, on Friday evening, operation was started with American Auger machine to drill beyond 45 meters. But shortly after starting the work, its blade broke and got stuck inside the pipe. About 30 meters long machinery was stuck inside the pipe, 21.5 meters of which was removed. A cutter was brought from Hyderabad to remove the rest. It reached Silkara on Saturday evening and it is expected that the entire pieces of the American auger machine will be removed by Sunday morning.
CM Dhami had inspected
CM Pushkar Singh Dhami himself went inside the tunnel and inspected the situation. Plasma cutter should be used to cut the blades of the drilling machine stuck in the Silkyara tunnel. This machine was brought by air from Hyderabad. Officials say that the workers trapped in the tunnel are safe. Along with food, oxygen is also being given to the workers. There is no clarity yet on when the workers will be taken out of the tunnel.
