Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, while talking to the media at the National Press Club in Washington, said that institutions in India are definitely under attack. Regarding the freedom of the press, he also said that the freedom of the press in India is proving to be weak, which is not hidden from anyone and everyone knows this. The Congress leader said that I think freedom of the press is very important in a democracy and criticisms should also be faced. This is not only a matter of freedom of the press, it is being seen everywhere.
Rahul Gandhi said that India has very strong systems, but these systems are proving to be very weak. If the democratic system is promoted then the problems will be solved automatically. Also, he said that you should have an independent group that does not work under anyone’s pressure and control. The Congress party is an organization whose first concept was to allow democratic institutions to function as institutions of the state.
Strengthening the unity of the opposition parties
On the question of opposition unity, Rahul Gandhi said that the opposition is very well united. The Congress party is in talks with all opposition political parties. The work on this matter is going on very well. The results of opposition unity in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections in the coming year will prove to be surprising. Referring to his Bharat Jodo Yatra, Rahul Gandhi said that when he undertook a padyatra across the country, people’s resentment came to the fore.
