GoFirst: Wadia-group-owned GoFirst Airlines has canceled all its flights for May 3, 4 and 5 due to lack of funds. The airline company GoFirst has gone bankrupt. GoFirst Airways has applied for Voluntary Insolvency Proceeding in NCLT. The company says that they do not have the funds to repay the oil money. For this reason, the airline has informed the Directorate General of Civil Aviation that all flights on May 3-5 will remain cancelled. At the same time, the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) has handed over a show cause notice to the airline company. The airline has informed the government about the developments and will submit a detailed report to aviation regulator Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA).

After this decision of GoFirst Airlines, passengers are facing a lot of problems. Passengers say that Go First counters are closed at the airport. Can’t find any kind of information. A passenger named Harendra Singh, who had booked his ticket with GoFirst Airlines in the morning, told that I left Meerut at around 3 am, but after reaching Delhi, I came to know that my flight has been cancelled. No one is ready to say anything clearly.

Another passenger who booked his ticket with GoFirst Airlines says that with a lot of difficulties we managed to plan a holiday to Leh and booked all the tickets. Now the airlines are saying that if you want a refund, you can, otherwise we don’t care. Gurvinder Singh, a passenger from Amritsar said, I have a flight to Mumbai, when I reached the airport there was no one at the counter. We have asked to adjust us in other flights but the airline is only talking of giving us a refund.

At the same time, two GoFirst flights to Mumbai, one from Srinagar and the other from Delhi, were diverted to Surat airport in Gujarat. Rupesh Kumar, director of Surat airport, told that the reason behind the diversion of flights is not clear. Later both the flights left from Surat.

GoFirst blames American company for financial crisis

Explain that the Go First company has blamed the American engine company Pratt & Whitney for the economic crisis. The airline says that operations of 50 per cent of its fleet have come to a standstill due to non-receipt of engines as per the order from the company. The company said that it had demanded at least 10 spare leased engines and 10 engines from P&W by April 27, which the engine company did not accept. Due to this, the operations of the company were affected and there was a shortage of funds.
